Amalthea the sacred goat nurturing Zeus, portrayed through symbolic dance and ritual movement on stage

The Thread of Birth

A Hidden God. A Mother's Love.

In the dawn of time, the world was ruled by the Titan Kronos. Fearing a prophecy that one of his children would overthrow him, Kronos committed the ultimate atrocity: he devoured each of his newborns at birth. But when Rhea, the Mother of Gods, felt the pulse of her sixth child, Zeus, she chose defiance over despair.

She fled to the rugged peaks of Crete, hiding within the deep, sacred shadows of the Idaion Andron cave. There, she placed her son in the warmth of a flickering fire, entrustring the future of the universe to the island’s mystic soul. While Rhea eluded Kronos’s watchful gaze, the infant Zeus was not left alone. The Kouretes, fierce Cretan warriors, surrounded the cave. Every time the baby cried, they struck their spears against their bronze shields in a rhythmic, deafening clatter to drown out the sound, ensuring Kronos would never hear his son’s breath.

Nurtured by the milk of the divine goat Amalthea, the hidden God grew in strength and wisdom, preparing for the day he would rise to claim the thunderbolt and liberate the world.
