A Divine Seduction. The Birth of a Kingdom.
The story shifts from the dark caves of Ida to a sun-drenched field on the coast of Phoenicia. There, the princess Europa danced among the flowers, her beauty so radiant it caught the eye of Zeus himself from the heights of Olympus. Driven by a consuming passion, the King of Gods knew he could not approach her in his divine form.
In a masterful display of deception, Zeus transformed into a magnificent white bull—pure as sea-foam and gentle in appearance. He approached Europa with a hypnotic, rhythmic grace. Charmed by the creature’s stillness, the princess eventually trusted the bull enough to climb onto its back. In that instant, the bull lunged into the sea, galloping across the waves of the Mediterranean toward the shores of Crete.
It was on this island, under the shade of sacred trees, that their union gave birth to the first royal lineage of Crete, beginning with King Minos. This “Thread of Desire” did more than just unite a God and a mortal; it gave a name to a whole continent—Europe—and established Knossos as the brilliant capital of a sprawling maritime empire.
Performance Highlights:
